How can I help?
There are many ways you can contribute to the growth of the Flushing Hospital Medical Center. Each year, we provide millions of dollars of high quality care that goes uncompensated. Your donation would help us to purchase new equipment, hire additional staff, update our facilities or continue our many community programs.

Flushing Hospital Medical Center has been designated a financially distressed hospital. The Development Department is responsible for fundraising to benefit Flushing Hospital Medical Center as well as the recording, acknowledgement and designation of all donations. You can reach this department at 718-206-8613.

Fundraising Events:
Every year, Flushing Hospital Medical Center organizes a dinner dance. The proceeds from these events benefit an area within the hospital. This year, all monies raised will benefit the Disaster Response Fund.

The Renaissance Ball will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2002 at Russo's On The Bay.

Memorial gifts:
When coping with the loss of a loved one, grieving family members and friends often decide to make a memorial donation to Flushing Hospital in the name of the deceased. These gifts may benefit a specific area of the hospital, or go to the hospital's general operating funds. For example, if the deceased was treated in the Coronary Care Unit, a donor might request that his or her gift benefit that unit. That money would then be used toward the purchase of new equipment, recruitment of additional staff or maintenance of special outreach programs in that area.

Sometimes, family members request that people paying their respects to the deceased's family make a donation to an organization in lieu of sending flowers.

Memorial gifts should be in the form of checks payable to Flushing Hospital Medical Center. The donor must indicate the name of the person being memorialized and the area-if any-within the hospital to benefit. If the donor or donors would like surviving family members to be notified that a gift was made in the deceased's name, that information should be provided as well. Memorial gifts should be mailed to the attention of the Development Department, Flushing Hospital Medical Center, 45th avenue at Parsons Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11355. Credit card orders may also be called in to the Development Department at 718-206-8613.

Naming Opportunities:
Flushing Hospital Medical Center provides opportunities to dedicate areas of equipment to someone or a company. A donor may name a medical unit, patient room, building, or piece of equipment or nursing station. There are several ways to do this:
- A patient room could have a wall plaque that reads "In Honor of Mary Smith"
- A building could be named as "The Jane Doe Pavilion"
- A unit could be named such as "The John Smith Emergency Department"
- A pediatric asthma chair could have a plaque that reads "Donated by "XYZ Company"

The amount of the donation varies with the area. For a brochure on naming opportunities, please call the Development Department at 718-206-8613.
