What is Wound Healing?
Wound Healing is a multidisciplinary service providing specialized treatment for chronic or non-healing wounds. Any wound that does not show improvement in four weeks or is not totally healed in eight weeks is considered a chronic, non-healing wound. An estimated 2% of the entire population suffers from these non-healing wounds, and the number is growing rapidly.
These wounds can cause severe health risks and may result in life-threatening infections, possible amputation, and debilitating health problems. For this reason, our Wound Care Center is available to help cure wounds that have resisted other treatments, and reduce incidence of recurrence.
Who is Eligible
If you are suffering from a chronic or non-healing wound, you may be a candidate for our outpatient Wound Care Center®. These wounds can result from a number of factors, including:
Diabetes (at particular risk)
Poor circulation
Trauma
Vascular disease
Immobility (which can lead to pressure ulcers, or bed sores.)
3 to 5 million Americans experience such conditions but the good news is that they no longer have to suffer. The Flushing Wound Care Center® not only uses among the most advanced therapies for healing but it also addresses the underlying cause of the wound, for example, nutrition, lack of exercise, hygiene, and ill-fitting shoes.
