The Flushing Hospital Medical Center Community
Advisory Board’s Caring Award Committee presented this
year’s Caring Award to two outstanding women in the
community: Mrs. Jane Ai-Horng and Ms. Marilyn Bitterman. Mrs.
Horng, President of the Chinese Waitankung Association, was
recognized for her deep commitment to Flushing Hospital Medical
Center. She has been extremely influential in creating a bridge
between the hospital and the community at large, by marketing
hospital services at a grassroots level.
Our other Caring Award recipient Marilyn Bitterman, District
Manager of Community Board 7 has played an integral part in
delivering New York City services at the local level, and
encouraging cooperation among agencies. CB 7 received this
year’s award because they are a worthwhile organization,
and play an important role in improving the quality of life
of Flushing residents through the leadership of Marilyn Bitterman.
This year’s award ceremony was held at the Sheraton
LaGuardia East Hotel in Downtown Flushing. Guests included
Borough President Claire Shulman, Senator Frank Padavan, Assemblyman
Barry S. Grodenchik and Councilman John C. Liu, as well as
FHMC Community Advisory Board Members.
