The Medical Reserve Corps/New York City (MRC) enhances New York City’s emergency preparedness infrastructure by organizing a group of volunteer health professionals who can be readily mobilized to assist the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) during a local health emergency that requires the City to open Point-of-Distribution clinics (PODs).

• The goal of the MRC is to bring together the knowledge and skills of many different health professionals to address public health crises, including:
•  Physicians
•  Dentists
•  Nurses and nurse practitioners
•  Physician Assistants
•  Pharmacists
• Mental health practitioners
•  Podiatrists
•  Optometrists
•  Medical assistants and technicians
•  Respiratory, Occupational, or Physical Therapists
•  EMTs/Paramedics
